Description
The JobFacilities Management is seeking a
Capital Improvement Project Manager I to assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of deferred maintenance projects across County facilities. This position plays a key role in supporting the County’s Maintenance Capital Improvement Program (MCIP) by assisting with project development, documentation, scheduling, and coordination to help ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in accordance with County policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:Program & Project Development - Support the Facilities Management Division in the planning, execution, and completion of deferred maintenance projects.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the annual MCIP Deferred Maintenance Program.
- Assist in developing project scopes, preliminary budgets, and schedules for approval and inclusion in the MCIP program.
- Maintain consistent reporting, inspections, and project documentation to ensure accountability and progress tracking.
Project Coordination - Assist in planning, organizing, and tracking facility maintenance projects.
- Maintain project schedules, timelines, and milestones.
- Coordinate project meetings, agendas, and follow-up actions.
- Monitor project activities to help ensure work stays on schedule.
Communication & Stakeholder Coordination - Serve as a liaison between County departments, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide status updates and progress reports to leadership.
- Help ensure stakeholders remain aligned on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Documentation & Reporting - Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project scopes, reports, and planning materials.
- Track budgets, expenditures, and project resources.
- Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
Budget & Resource Support - Assist with monitoring project budgets and contracts.
- Coordinate procurement requests and vendor interactions.
- Track resource allocation, including staff, materials, and services.
Problem Solving - Identify potential project risks or issues and escalate when necessary.
- Assist in developing solutions to help keep projects on track and within scope.
Compliance & Procedures
- Ensure projects follow County policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and program documentation.

Minimum RequirementsCandidates must meet one (1) of the following options to qualify: OPTION 1 Experience: One (1) year of professional-level project management experience over multiple building and improvement projects, with responsibility from conception to completion. Experience may include the following: assisting in the development and updating of project schedules, assisting in tracking construction budgets, managing Requests For Information, and coordinating design and construction submittals.
-AND- Education: Associate Degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Project Management, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
OPTION 2 Experience: Three (3) years of professional-level experience demonstrating frequent problem-solving, critical thinking, and management of multiple stakeholders' needs. Duties must include project documentation, informing stakeholders of project statuses, and managing contracts/agreements. Experience in construction trades is preferred.
*Education Substitutions You may substitute the associate degree if you meet one of the following options: - Successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program in construction related trades resulting in journey-level status.
- One (1) additional year of qualifying experience with possession of 15 semester (23 quarter) units of coursework in the noted fields of study.
- Two (2) additional years of qualifying experience.
Desired QualificationsThe
ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience working with facility maintenance or deferred maintenance programs
- Familiarity with capital improvement program (CIP) processes
- Knowledge of public sector procurement and contracting
- Strong organizational and project tracking skills
- Experience with project management software or scheduling tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
