The JobSan Bernardino County is recruiting for
Accounting Technicians who perform complex, paraprofessional accounting work in the preparation and maintenance of accounting, financial, and fiscal records. Essential duties include: maintaining manual and/or automated systems, monitoring and reconciling financial data, making journal entries, preparing trial balances, and reconciling bank statements and ledgers.

Summary of Benefits Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) The eligible list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in the
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District. Applicants will be asked to indicate their availability and preference for referral to the different agencies in the Supplemental Questionnaire.
The
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is a separate entity from
San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan.
The salary for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (Accounting Technician is $24.31 - $32.52 hourly (range 23)). For additional details, refer to the Fire Auxiliary Services Unit MOU and Benefits Summary .
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment. For the Probation and Sheriff's Departments, positions require extensive background investigations, including polygraph testing. If you are interested in these departments, indicate your availability on the Supplemental Questionnaire.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF T HE FOLLOWING OPTION REQUIREMENTS: OPTION 1 Experience: Must possess two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience performing
fiscal, clerical, or technical duties in support of accounting functions as the
primary function of the job.
-AND- Education: Must possess twelve (12) semester or eighteen (18) quarter units of completed college coursework in accounting. ( Transcripts MUST be attached if you do not possess a completed Associate's degree (or higher) in a relevant field.)
Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying experience as noted above may substitute for the education requirement.
Note: Cash handling for retail sales/food service is NOT considered qualifying experience. OPTON 2 Must possess a completed Bachelor'sdegree in accounting, finance or closely related field.

EDUCATION Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have completed college level accounting coursework, possess extensive experience reconciling financial data across systems, and be detail oriented, courteous, and helpful when interacting with the public.
Selection Process Examination Procedure :There will be an
online assessment of knowledge and skills in the following areas (practice materials not available) :
