Austin Human Resources is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Human Resources Supervisor to lead a team of HR Investigators. This role oversees workplace investigations across 40+ City departments, ensuring consistency, compliance, fairness, and timeliness in handling sensitive employee matters.

The HR Supervisor functions with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to exercise sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong leadership in managing a dynamic caseload, supporting staff, and advising departments on complex employee relations issues related to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and retaliation.

Human Resources Supervisor

Purpose:

Under limited direction, supervise the daily operations and activities of specialized Human Resource (HR) professionals in support of management and other employee groups within the assigned department on a broad range of HR issues and decisions.

Austin Human Resources is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Human Resources Supervisor to lead our team of HR Investigators and help strengthen the City’s commitment to a fair, respectful, and inclusive workplace. In this key role, you’ll guide how sensitive employee relations matters are handled across more than 40 City departments, ensuring consistency, compliance, and care in every investigation.

You’ll partner closely with HR professionals and department leaders, offering expert guidance on complex issues involving discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, retaliation, and other workplace concerns. With a high level of autonomy, you’ll manage a diverse caseload, support investigators, and ensure each investigation is thorough, objective, and aligned with City policies and employment laws.

As a valued leader on our team, you’ll help enhance investigative practices, identify trends in workplace issues, and recommend proactive solutions that strengthen organizational culture. You’ll also deliver training to employees, supervisors, managers, and HR professionals, empowering them to understand their responsibilities and contribute to a positive work environment.

Annual Salary Range: $80,490.00 - $102, 200.00 (midpoint)

Days and Hours:

Monday - Friday.
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Hours may vary due to operational needs. An alternative schedule and remote work/teleworking options are available, but position requires a minimum of 40% per week in office standard.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
