ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Information Technology Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Systems Programmer I/II position. As a member of our team, you will install, support and configure software applications along with system infrastructure components. This position provides ongoing software maintenance, including updates and security patches. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and solving potential hardware and software performance issues, supporting customers and employees via email, telephone, and face-to-face interaction.

This position works within a large-scale enterprise environment requiring knowledge on a variety of Technologies, such as; Server Virtualization (VMware preferred), Enterprise Storage Administration, Windows Server Administration (Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022), Digital Certificate Management, Web Services (IIS) and Load Balancers (F5), Patch Management, and Enterprise Backup software.

Systems Programmer I: $35.38 - $52.32 Hourly
Systems Programmer
II: $38.23 - $56.51 Hourly

The Systems Programmer I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Systems Programmer II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Systems Programmer I - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Mathematics, or a field related to the work AND two (2) years of full-time professional experience in applications or systems programming. Additional experience in systems analysis and/or programming may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis up to two (2) years.

Systems Programmer II - In addition to the above: Two (2) years of full-time professional level experience in the installation and maintenance of operating system software for large-scale computers.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
