ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Real Property Management is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Plumber position. As a member of our team, you will perform installation, repair, and maintenance work on a variety of plumbing and pipefitting systems at various County facilities. The ideal candidate should have journey-level qualifications and have the ability to work individually or as part of a team and will work as a member of the RPM Operations Team.

PLEASE NOTE: This position performs maintenance, repair, and construction at all facilities across Clark County which could include detention facilities, court facilities, family/youth/recreation facilities, rural locations, Coroner’s office and morgue, and campus locations. This position could also be subject to shift work that includes nights, evenings, and weekends.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

Some positions may be used to fill permanent-intermittent positions. The selected candidates will work a regular schedule of more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours in a workweek. They will be paid at the approved hourly rate for actual hours worked. The successful selected candidates will be eligible for benefits on a prorated basis based on hours worked in a pay period.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND six (6) years of skilled experience in the plumbing trade. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber may be substituted for four (4) years of the required experience. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable, as is experience with piping systems and equipment in an industrial or plant setting.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. All details must be written in your own words and cannot be copied from job descriptions or other external sources.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. May be assigned to a detention facility.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Class C Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for an extended period of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
